Sebastien Bouret

Sebastien BouretSebastien Bouret received a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the university of Lille (France) in 2001. He subsequently joined the laboratory of Dr. Richard Simerly in the Department of Neuroscience at the Oregon Health and Science University where he did his postdoctoral work. In 2004, Dr. Bouret was appointed Research Associate at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), and visiting Faculty in the Neuroscience Program of The Saban Research Institute at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He was then promoted to visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California in 2007. Dr. Bouret is the scientific coordinator of the “Neurobese” International Associated Laboratory between Inserm (French NIH) and University of Southern California. He is also a corresponding member of the Dannon Institute. The major focus of Dr. Bouret’s laboratory is to study the development of brain circuits that regulate appetite and energy balance. He is also interested in studying the influence of perinatal factors, such as hormones and nutrition, in the development of these critical pathways. He has published many articles, reviews, and book chapters in the field of developmental programming and has been invited to lecture internationally, including in United States, France, Canada, United Kingdom, Japan, Switzerland, Malaysia, and Brazil.
